Achim Lass

Achim Lass is a molecular biologist and Associate Professor at the Institute of Molecular Biosciences of the University of Graz.

Research interests:

His main research areas include identification and characterization of mammalian lipases that are involved in the mobilization of neutral lipids. Potential candidate genes for the hydrolysis of neutral lipid esters are identified in proteomic or genetic approaches. The physiological role of these candidate genes are then studied in in vitro activity assays and cell experiments employing overexpression and silencing techniques. For some genes, studies are extended to transgenic or knock-out mouse models.
